LAWN TENNIS.
OPAWA CLUB. The annual meetng of the Opawa Lawn Tennis Club waß he.d on Thursday evening, Mr P. Menzics presiding over a fair attendance. The report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. It was mentioned that the following members of the club were on active service or were waiting to be called up:—F. AndeVson, S. G. Bowron, H. Bowron, F. Bowron,' C. Collins, C. J. Ferriei', K. B. Oatland, J. Hawkins, G. T. Lucas, L. H. M'Harg, T. Patterson, H. B: Smith, L. Tidall, R. D. Vincent, E. F. Willcox, F. S. Wilding and J. S. Willis. Lieutenant S. G. Bowron and Sergeant Willcox hod been wounded.
In recognition, of the many valuable services rendered to tho club, 'Mr J. E. Garland was elected a life member. Officers were elected as follows:—President. Mr P. Meuzies; vice-presidents, Messrs F. Wilding, K.C., G-. L. Bowron, J. E. Garland, it. Malcolm and W. H. Tisdall; secro'ary, Mr W. S. Burnet; treasurer, Mr P. R. Harman; committee, Misses E. Bowron, A. L. Lucas and Motizies, and Messrs Charters, Clavton and J. Willis; audi'or, Mr J. W. Hillary; delegates to Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs P. Harman and P. Monziea. Miss Bowron was elected to supervise the tea arrangements for the year. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 14. _____
