PERSONAL NOTES.' Lieutenant W. K. Dougall, who died of wounds on September .13, was the second son of Mr J. J. Dougall, of Christchurch. He was ■ born in Christchurch and whs educated at the Roys’ High School, and was a keen athlete, being a member of the first Rugby fifteen and a good swimmer. He played m the Old Roys i football team. Lieutenant Dougall went awav with the Mam Body and obtained a commission- He w;as wounded, but recovered and went to France, where ho was with the Anzacs. Both at school and afterwards Lieutenant Dougall was very popular, and as a footballer had a high reputation. I)r Thomas, of Colombo Street, received news yesterday of the death of his son, Private Walter Geoffrey Thomas, who was killed in action in France off August 22, while serving with the Australian forces. Private Thomas was about thirty-years of age. Ho was born at Christchurch and was educated at Christ’s College.* After taking a course at the Canterbury College Engineering School ho joined the staff of, the' Christchurch Tramways Board, but about two years ago he went to Australia, securing an vappoinhnent with the Geelong Harhfiur Trust as electrical engineering draughtsman. He enlisted in the Australian infantry force, and served 'at Gallipoli until- the evacuation, escaping injury. In duo course he reached France. His brother, Malcolm James, left with the Fifteenth Reinforcements.
Trooper F. Good rick, who was killed in action on August 9, in the Canal zone, went into caVnp from Greendalo in December, J. 914. ■ Ho was on duty Tor a fcw’'months in Egypt, and afterwards was at the Dardanelles. Lieutenant Edward J. Grey, 1 reported wounded, is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Grey, of Waimahia, Manurewa, Auckland province. He was a master in the mercantile marine before enlisting, but was always keenly interested in military matters, being at one time a member of the Piako Mounted Rifles.
