RED CROSS WORK 4 .; SALES DEPOT. In referring’’to the ;Ited Cross shop in Cathedral Square in an item of news recently it was made to appear that a lady was irf charge of the shop. The shop is under the control ft a committee of gentlemen. assisted by *tndy helpers. Different ladies are in charge of the shop on different days, and it is most pleasing t& record that the willing band of helpers is securing excellent results on behalf of the lied Cross. 'J'ho shop o cials are always glad to welcome gifts and customers. MERIYALE. At the monthly meeting of the Merivale Red Cross unit, held on Tuesday evening, the president (Mr C E. Salter) being in tho fchair, ‘ the working units reported the result of the month as follows:—1034 roller bandages, 10 dysentery pads, 275 limb pillows, 18 pyjamas, 1980 swabs, 1218 abdominal swabs, 16 pairs socks, 12 scarves, 13 flannel vests,'l6 toilet cloths* 13 hot water bottle covers, 20 medicine cloths, 1 jacket and 10 manitail bandages. The treasurer reported a slight falling off in the amount ,collected and it was decided to endeavour to get- some moro collectors for streets at present not canvassed.' SYDENHAM. . • , ' ‘The Men’s Committee of the Sydenham Red Cross branch met in the library on Thursday. Tho treasurer reported that the receipts for the month amounted to £4B ss, making the sum received to dale £412 18s 4d. Tho expenditure for tlio month was £46 Is Id, making a total to date of £378 17s 2d, leaving a credit balance of £34 Is 2d. UPPER -bic,carton; Tho secretary of the Upper Rictarton Red Cross branch acknowledges with thanks receipt of gifts from Mrs V. A. Holmes, Mrs Tipping,. Miss 'Tipping, Mrs P. Holmes, .Gerald Muir. Miss Gwen Carleton, Miff'S. Guy, Mrs Emerson, Miss Myra Carleton, Mrs English, Mrs Corsbie, Mis 3 Hazel Macpherson, Mrs Longley, Mrs Finlayson, Mrs Kirkwood, Miss Tullcy, Mrs Muir, Miss E. Nelson. A donation of '£l os has been received from C. Carleton, being the proceeds* of an evening. During tho month the following garments have been forwarded to tho Central Depot; 43 suits pyjamas, 22 pairs underpants, 29 bed jackets, 18 flannel vests, 1 dressing g6wn)' 18 pillow cases, 22 limb cushion covers, 11 pairs heclless operating stockings, -impairs socks, 4 surg'ical nightshirts, 30 daysnirts, 81 handkerchiefs, 24 treasure bags, 13 pairs slippers, 4 pillows, 5 doctors’ coats, 4 body belts, 2 Balaclavas, 1 pair mittens, 39 girdles, 36 face cloths, 3 fomentation cloths.
