OXFORD ROAD DISTRICT.
The annual meeting of ratepayers of the Oxford Boad district was held at the office on Tuesday, Jan. 8, for the purpose of receiving the annual statement of accounts and the election of two members in the place of Messrs F. Luers and Wilson Fisher, who retire by rotation. Mr Fisher occupied the chair, and read the advertisement calling the meeting. The statement of accounts was next read, which showed that the expenditure for the past year amounted to £4620, leaving a balance of £3684 to bo carried forward to this year. After some discussion the accounts were passed as read. Considerable discussion next took place with reference to the past action of the Beard, and a motion of no-confidence was passed in the Board as at present constituted. Another motion, requesting the toree members whose time hasnot expired to remain in office, was carried most unanimously. Mr Gorton stated that the roads wore in splendid order, and the Board deserved to be commended for the way in which they had kept them. The nomination of candidates was then proceeded with, Mr Bayliss acting os Eeturning-Olßoor. The following gentlemen were then nominated, and a show of hands token resulted os follows: F. Leurs 12 W. Fisher 9 W. F. Pearson 20 A. Stubbs 18 0. M. Lugar 9 A poll was demanded on behalf of Mr 0. M. Lugar, which will be taken to-day.
