The Lieutenant was arrested. - When the arrest of the Executive Council came to be known amongst the troops, the soldiers, cheering Liebknecht and shouting that Ebert and Schiecfemann (the leadens of the present government) must retire, marched in procession to the Reichstag, where Ledebour promised that their wishes would be considered. Two other processionrs carried placards: "Down with Hindenburg and the officers; we must have a Soldiers' Council," and 1 also demanded that Ebert should be handged. The military charged the procession with bayonets and firing with machine guns, 28 being killed and 40 wounded. Vorwaerts asserts that- the Spartacns party are entirely responsible for the outbreak. It is rumoured that the demonstrators intended to storm the Foreign Office and remove the Govern ment.
