Conßtable Wilson, relieving constable at Baetihi, made a rather sensational arrest on Thursday. He met a man in the Street who had been driven out of the bush by the Area, and identified him bs Stephen James Hall, "wanted" in' connection with a daylight theft from' the Australian Commonwealth Bank in Sydney. During the hearing of charges against Waihi chemist-s for alleged breaches of the licensing Act, 1908, in keeping and selling liquor in a no-license area, it was stated that in one year since Ohinemurii carried no-license the quantity of alcoholic liquor through the court; books included 2000 gallons of whiskey and 20,000 gallons of beer. A conference between members of the National Efficiency Bo.ard, the associated sawmillers of New Zealand, and refrigerating and dairy companies will be held in Wellington on 4th April to discuss the difficulties that have arisen in connection with the utilisation and conservation of white pine. Says the Feilding "Star":—The historic bugle which was being used on Gallipoli by Bugler G. F. McG. Bissett, the young Feildingite, who Mas shot at Kaba Tepe whilst warning his officer against a surprise attack from the Turkjj, is now on exhibition in the corner window of Mr John Cobbe's shop. All trace of the bugle was- lost for 12 months, and then quite unexpectedly it reached Mrs Bissetit, mother of the hero; and she has been so good as to allow the shrapnel-torn and bullet-shot instrument to be placed on exhibition. Discussing the session of Parliament to be opened on April 9, with an Auckland ' "Herald" representative, the Prime Minister stated that little legislation would be brought down, practically the only business to be dealt fiith being the financial arrangements. Mr Massey said it would be for the House to decide, as it probably would, whether Sir Joseph Ward and himself should represent the Dominion at the sitting of the Imperial War Cabinet. Questioned as to whether Parliament would meet late this year, and also as to the probability of a general election early in 1919, ; the Prime Minister stated that the House would meet probably on October 1, to deal with the ordinary business of the country.
