SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE.

COMMITTEE TO RESIGN,

The Committee of the Second Division League met on Tuesday evening the President (Mr 3>. Matheson) occupying the chair. There was a full muster and several , important matters were discussedi. A communication was received from M'r O. H. Burnett, a well-known Wanganui reservist, accepting an invitation to speak at the general meeting of members on Friday evening. It is anticipated Dhat M'r Burnett, who lias studied the aims and objects of the Le_ ague very I'dioroughly, will handle his subject in a lucid and interesting man_ ner. Mr Aitken brought up the question of the .status of the committee now that the membership had more than doubled. He said tlhai; there appeared to be some dissatisfaction ajnong members and suggested that the faire-t cotrrse was for the committee to place its resignation in the hands of 6he general meeting, which could then, if necessary, elect an executive representative of all parties. After an animated discussion it was unanimously decided thajt '.'ihe resignation of the committee aiul president and secretary be tendered to the general meeting.

The future activity of the League was then discussed, especially as it concerned the local branch, and a number of suggestions were made which will be brought up for discussion at ihe general meeting. One which promises t" provide food! for debate was a method by which the committee of the League could assist members going into camp —either by keeping a watchful eye on their businesses if required or by assisting to keep their properties 2n order by tending gardens, lawns, etc. It was recognised that a great deal of good could thus be done, a great deal of harm if clumsy and tactless methods were employed. Tt was dlecided to pll- - matter before the general meeting.
