Levin Show

The committee of the Horowhenua A. and P. Association met on Saturday. The President (Mr C. Blenkhorn) occupied the chair, and 20 members were present. A considerable amount of business was transacted.

Messrs J. Hammond Murray, E. S. Lancaster, F. O. Smith, A. McLeavey, and F. G. Roe were appointed a ground committee to arrange for the erection of stalls. These will be placed at the disposal of business people who wish to make displays at the show, a small ground rent being charged. In the past, exhibitors were expected to find their own housing accommodation, and it is hoped the new arrangement will encourage trade displays. A suggestion was made that the Shannon Dairy Company should be approached with regard to a contribution to the butter fat competition. Mr J. Whitaker's tender for erecting stalls and repairing yards was accepted, the work to be dono to the satisfaction of the ground committee. It was decided that in future all prize tickets be eyeletted, so that they can be affixed to the winner in the grand parade. In the past this has only been the case with the horses.

It was decided on Mr Simpson's motion, seconded by MrKingdon. that the prize money in both the maiden jumping competition and the steeplechasers' jumping competition be reduced to £4 and £2 for the first named, and £5, £2, and £l for the latter.

The ground committee, in conjunction with Mr A. K. Simpson, was authorised to have a platform erected for the purpose of measuring ponies. Various alterations in the schedules were then submitted and discussed, mostbeing adopted and others amended.

The Live Stock Auctioneers' Association forwarded a donation of £10 lOs to the funds. Mr W. H. Simcox (Otaki) forwarded a donation of £3 3s. Both gifts were accepted with thanks.
