PROPOSED SCHOOL PICNIC.
MONDAY NIGHT'S BENEFIT. TO THE EDITOR. SIR, —Might I crave a portion of your valuable space to appeal to the public to support the Picture Entertainment to be given on behalf of. the school picnic fund, and also to refute the rumour, which has apparently gained currency, that Mr Farland is taking half .expenses. On the committee deciding to give the children a picnic this year, Mr Farland was approached, and the amount required (£3O) being too much for one entertainment, he generously offered to give two, the committee to receive £15 for each. This offer was 'accepted, and to obtain the necessary, proceeds it is obvious that the public must strongly support and patronise each performance. i . I therefore appeal to the people of Levin to give us bumper houses; commencing on Monday night, when an exceptionally good programme is profnised. Mr Seigel, proprietor of -Everybody's, has also generously offered an'- evening's entertainment, to be taken after the two picnic benefits, when the proceeds will be given and applied towards improving the present unsatisfactory condition* of our playground. This will be & great boon to the children and, incidentally, the parents, especially during, bad weather.' _ The committee heartily appreciate the generosity ot these gentlemen, ;and it now remains with the public to consider the children and "do their bit." This is the first appeal for some years made on behalf of our school, and I feel sure the committee will not be disappointed. ' W. Thomson, Chairman Levin D. H. School Committee.
