At the Levin Court this morning, before Messrs B. R. Gardener and J. Hammond Murray, J.sP., JR.. Gilchrist, of Koputaroa, pleaded guilty to using abusive language to G. Annibell, a railway officer, in the execution of his duty. He was fined 5s and costs, 295. The evidence was to the effect that relations were strained between the parties, and defendant, for whom Mr Blenkhorn appeared, resented complainant's action in unloading a consignment of benzine on to the side of the line making use of the words complained of. Tickets are selling rapidly for the school benifit at Farland's Pictures on Monday night. The object aimed at ia the provision of funds to give the children a picnic this year. The little folks have gone without an outing of this sort for three' years past and are admittedly entitled to some consideration this time. The management of the theatre intends to put on a special programme of'pictures, including the first incident in the "Peg-o'-the Ring" serial and Charlie Chaplin in "The Count," so that the benefit should be well worth a visit.
