THE FINANCIAL ADJUSTMENTS.

The Committee appointed to deal with the adjustments between the Horowhenua County and the new Borough of Shannon, met the representatives of the latter on September 25. The County Clerk reported that the Government Audit Inspector had gone into the accounts and had apportioned the Borough's share of the revenue, expenditure and interest. After discussion it was agreed that:

(1) The Horowhenua County would continue to collect the rates struck for the current years, and ■would pay out therefrom the Borough's share of the Hospital levy and the interest on loans. (2) That the Council be allowed the following prices for plant handed over to the Borough: Sanitary outfit, £20; lorry, £30; 12 lamps, £24. (3) That the following loans be taken over by the Borough: No. 33, Johnson Road loan, £238 19s lid; No. 67, Shannon Special District, £769 6s 5d ; No 76, Shannon Special District, 10 per cent, £75. An unexpended balance of £34 lis of the Shannon Special District Loan to be handed over to the Borough. (4) It was agreed that the Borough's share of annual interest in the following loans should be as under: Special A, £1912s ; Special No. 6, £9; Special No. 17, £4 17s 10s; Share of interest paid by General account, £3. 5. It was decided that the sum of £250 should be handed over to the Borough of Shannon in full settlement of the Borough's claims agairst the Council.
