PERMISSION GRANTED FOR ADMISSION CHARGE TO FOOTBALL
At the monthly meeting of the Queenstown Borough Council held last Thursday night, a request was brought before the council by the Queenstown Football Club for permission to make a charge to spectators to games.
Cr Lindsay suggested that if a charge were made that the council should be entitled to a portion of it for ground maintenance.
Cr Robins said that the sports bodies, at their meeting with the council, had intimated that they would be prepared to make a grant at the end of each season for the maintenance of the ground. Cr Inglis moved the motion that permission be granted to the club to make admission charges. The motion was carried.
A further request was made for the council to make available stakes and wire so that club members could erect a fence to keep spectators back from the side line. Permission was granted for them to cut stakes from the camping ground plantation, but wire was unprocurable.
