Cromwell v. Clyde
Cromwell played Clyde at Cromwell and after some ragged play at the commencement of the match, Clyde was awarded a free kick which they succeeded in putting over. Later on, after more ragged play, another free kick Avas given and within the first 10 minutes of the game, Clyde was leading 6—o.
The play at this stage was mainly confined to the fonvards and the Avind Avas being used considerably, Cromwell at all times endeavouring to gain possession of the ball to open up the game.
After Clyde’s penalty kicks, Cromwell scored one try and kicked a penalty goal to bring the score to 6 —6 at halftime.
In the second spell the Cromwell backs SAvmig into action and clever back movements Avere seen. A try in the early stage of the second half saAV Clyde once again in the lead. The scores Avere soon evened up Avhen G. Chisholm put in a Avell-judgcd centreing kick Avhich Avas snapped up by a Cromwell player Avho scored a try in a handy position. The kick failed to go over. ToAvards the end of the game, CromAvell was aAvarded a penalty kick Avhich gave them a lead of 12—9.
