ISLAND MISSION WORK RECOUNTED TO ROTARY
There was an unusually large attendance of visitors at last week’s meeting of the Queenstown Rotary Club. The speaker was the Rev. G. Cartridge, president of the Waimate Rotary Club. He gave a very interesting account of his experiences as a missionary at Rabaul, on the south coast of New Britain, and in the islands, including New Guinea.
Ho said that those who took up mission work in such areas were required to endure hardships. - They were also subject to tropical diseases. It was necessary for them to acquire a certain amount of medical knowledge and apply it in respect to disagreeable ulcers, sores and other ills that the native population was subject to.
The overseas toast, “ The Manilla Club,” was given by the Rev. P. Anderson.
