The library will be closed during March, 1948, on the following dates; — Tuesday, March 23 (Anniversary Day); March 26 (Good Friday); March 29 (Easter Monday). * * * At the monthly meeting of the Cromwell Borough Council, Cr Jelley brought to the notice of the council the deplorable condition of gentlemen’s conveniences at the recreation ground. The matter was discussed by the council and left in the hands of the chairman of the Reserves, Cr Jelley, with power to act. • • • When considering the application of the basketball club for the use of the Athenaeum Hall, a discussion took place on the damage caused to the property last year. This damage was to have been repaired by the basket ball club, but up to the present time these repairs had not been effected. It was considered that this damage could be avoided if more care was taken. It Avas decided to ask the basketball club to appoint a man and a lady player to safeguard the interests of the people and borough property. * * * If a property room Avas erected at the Athenaeum Hall, the Drama Club Avas prepared to insure their property against fire and theft and Avould also provide the fittings.
