Successful Sunday Schools' Picnic

Nearly 300 people attended the Queenstown Combined Sunday Schools’ picnic held on the property of Mr and Mrs J. Burnett, Half Way Bay, last Saturday. The steamer left Queenstown' at about 9.30 and called at Cecil' Peak en route arriving at Half Way Bay shortly after 11 a.m. The spot chosen was perfect for the occasion and after lunch, races for the young and old were held. A relay race for married men and women, and a race for members of the Riverton Pipe Band in their kilts gave the children quite a laugh. The weather was cloudy but very pleasant. At about 5.30 the party returned and children were given sweets and apples. Special thanks for the day’s success are due to Mr and Mrs Burnett for their hospitality and to 'the Riverton Pipe Band who were in attendance.
