Concern Felt Over Water Question

“ Frequently it was found that higher levels (including the camping ground) were without water over the dry spell,” said Or F. W. Thompson, chairman of the works committee, when he presented his report to the Borough Council at their meeting last Thursday night. Inspection had been carried out and a blockage above the old settling tank had been rectified. Any seepage or overflow coming from the power dam is supplementing the town supply.

Cotmcillors agreed that health, the danger of fires, and the natural growth of the borough made the water question one of major importance.

On a suggestion from Cr W. H. Nelson it was decided to make inquiries into the cost of a suitable pump to pump water from the lake to supplement the town supply.
