Queenstown Magistrate’s Court

John Brown Hamilton, Jnr., milkman, Queenstown, was convicted and fined on tAvo charges in the Magistrate’s Court held before Mr A. B. Dobbie, S.M., last Friday. , For the sale of milk which did not comply with the standard prescribed under the Food and Drugs Act, 1947, he was fined £2 2s (costs 10s). For the sale of milk containing added water he was fined £5 (solicitor’s fee £3 3s, analyst’s fee 10s fid, court costs 10s). The circumstances which resulted in the convictions Avere that John Brunton, Health Inspector and an officer under the Sale of Foods and Drugs Act, purchased milk from Hamilton at about 7.30 a.m. on October 15, 1947. The milk Avas then analysed by a Government department and it Avas upon the analyst’s report that the charges arose.
