INSTITUTION OF VICAR-ELECT OF WAKATIPU

The institution of the vicar-elect for the parochial district of Wakatipu, Rev. V. A. Bianchi, was carried out by the Yen. Archdeacon W. A. Hamblett, in St. Peter’s Church, Queenstown, on Wednesday last. There was a good attendance of parishioners and members of other denominations. Visiting clergy present were Revs. S. P. Wood and Harbour (Lumsden) and S. Hurd (Clyde). Several apologies were received from clergy in the Archdeaconry and from Archdeacon Lush, Invercargill, who congratulated the new vicar on his appointment. After the service a social evening was held in the Parish Hall. Archdeacon Hamblett was chairman. Addresses of welcome were given by the senior churchwarden, Mr W. D. Warren, Dr Salmond (Presbyterian Church), Captain Pont (Salvation Army), Revs. S. P. Wood, S. Hurd and the Mayor, Dr W. A. Anderson. The Rev. Mr Bianchi briefly replied on behalf of himself and his wife. Supper was then handed round.
