School Children Give Aid to Britain
A parcel of tinned foods valued at £l2 had been made up and forwarded to a school in Britain by children of Arrowtown School, reported the head master at the school committee’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 11. Mr Ogilvie acted as chairman. Messrs Given, Fletcher and Mrs Ritchie (hon. secretary) were also present. It was decided to write to the Education Board inquiring if it had had any success in connection with tenders for the teacher’s new residence. It was resolved to communicate with Mr T. L. Macdonald, M.P. for the district, regarding the condition of the building. • ■ ; On a recommendation' from the teachers it was decided not to have a fancy dress dance for the children at the end of the year, but that the break-up lake the form of a social afternoon. , ‘
