Quintuplets Born To Romney Ewe At Arrowtown

Quintuplets were born to a four-year-old Romney ewe on the farm of Mr J. B. Hamilton, at Arrow Junction, Arrowtown, during last week. Mr Hamilton stated that this was the first occasion in his many years of farming that he had experienced such a prolific result from a ewe. On Thursday morning he carried out his usual inspection of ewes and came across a ewe with four lambs. The ewe was conveyed by sledge to the farm yard where every attention was given to her and the Quartette of lambs. On Friday morning, however, Mr Hamilton was amazed to find that yet another lamb had been born to the mother. This lamb, however, did not live. The mother ewe and her four offspring were all doing well when inspected by a “ Mail ” representative.
