The feature of this game was a splendid dropped goal by lan Murray, of Cromwell, from 40 yards out that made Cromwell victorious. Playing with a slight breeze in their favour in the second spell, Queenstown tried hard to pull the game out. of the fire, and the Queenstown team had Cromwell penned in their own twenty-five for the better part of the half. W. McDonald j)iit v in one great run and was stopped just short of the line, then, just on the call of time J. O’Connell dribbled through but was beaten by the bounce of the ball when a try looked certain. The/whole of the team gave a good account of themselves, the two forwards, R. Stvann and J. O’Connell, were getting the ball back smartly, and D. Boyd wasted no time in getting his backs moving. W. McDonald showed real form and his four tries were splendid efforts. Bill Anderson, playing in something of his own class, showed just what a good footballer he is and A. Hamilton and H. Walsh were two good wings, their handling being very sure. R. Swann was unfortunate in getting a nasty knock over the eye during the progress of the last game. Mr T. L. Hanrahan and Mr B. A. Varcoe accompanied the team to Alexandra.
