QUEENSTOWN ROTARY

An interesting and instructive address on local government legislation was given by Eotarian E. R. Hopwood, the speaker at the weekly meeting of the Queenstown Rotary Club, held in the Royal Cafe on Tuesday evening. Eotarian Hopwood discussed various Acts and explained that local bodies’ legislation first became law in 187 S. He also described the many anomalies. The speaker referred to the Parliamentary Commission’s' findings, of the large number of local bodies that existed in the country, and of the amalgamation of many of these bodies. Eotarian J. McDonald moved a vote of thanks to the speaker. Rotarian W. K. Hayward was the mover of the overseas toast, selecting the Rotterdam Club. The president, Mr J. Keen, occupied the chair. ,
