MR AND MRS HORE BID FAREWELL BY QUEENSTOWN SOCIETIES

Mr W. J. Hore, member of the post office staff, Queenstown, who lias been transfei’red to the position of postmaster at Arrowtown, lias been the guest of honour at numerous farewells recently. A happy little function took place at the home of Mr Hore last Saturday when the committee of the Queenstown Boy Scouts’ Association waited upon Mr and Mrs Hore to make him a presentation of a coloured photograph of Queenstown as a token of their great appreciation of the work and sacrifice that he had put in as Scoutmaster to the Queenstown troop. In spite of being kept exceedingly busy at the post office he’ made time to train his troop and the lads who have passed through his hands are witnesses to the value of that training. The Presbyterian Church in the Queenstown Parish gave a farewell to Mr and Mrs Hore in the Mackenzie

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiL Hall last Friday evening. A large and representative gathering enjoyed the entertainment which included songs by Mr W. Smith, Mr P. Gardiner, and Mrs Stone, and some “ patter ” from Mr Hore and the Minister. The Mayor, Dr W. A. Anderson, set the ball rolling by conducting some community singing. The entertainment was followed by a presentation to Mr and Mrs Hore. Mrs Hore was presented with a spray of flowers and a lady’s handbag and Mr Hore with an envelope, the contents of which he was urged to spend in buying some token of our respect and happy memories of him. Mr Hore, during his stay in Queenstown, has been actively associated with the work of the church, and, in these last years has been a most efficient treasurer. Both his presence and his services will be greatly missed. The evening concluded with supper and the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
