RETURNED SERVICEMEN GUESTS
Queenstown Rotary Club
Returned servicemen were guests at the weekly meeting of the Queenstown Rotary Club held in the Royal Cafe on Tuesday evening. Each member invited one guest. Mr J. Keen presided. The speaker was Rotarian Dr W. A. Anderson who chose as his subject, “ India.” Dr Anderson gave an interesting and enlightening address making reference to the religious, political, racial and lingual aspects of the country. He also discussed Britain’s granting of independence to India and the great statesmanship displayed by Viscount Mountbatten.
Rotarian W. Smith moved a vote of thanks to the speaker. Greetings from the Waimate Club were conveyed by a visiting Waimate club member.
The following guests were present: Messrs G. Buxton, A. Inglis, A. Robins, J. Buckham, C. Lynch, R. Payne, E. Nelson, R. Anderson, L. Forde, N. Christopher, W. Wethey.
