Annual Ball Arrangements
Mr Jas. McDonald presided over an attendance of 21 members at the quarterly meeting of the Queenstown Returned Serwices’ Association Committee held in the Ambassadors Tea Rooms on Monday evening of last week.
After routine business had been dealt with the annual ball, which is to be held on August 27, was discussed. It was decided that the supper be served on similar lines to that of last year, and that the proceeds of the ball go towards a War Memorial Fund.
The following were added to the present Social Committee to form a Ball Committee: Messrs D. Cosgrove, G. Carson, W. Smith, E. Nelson, W. Hayward. A meeting of this committee was fixed for August 13 at 7.30 p.m. Members of committee were appointed as follows: Messrs A. Curtis, W. Smith, R, Anderson, and L. Forde. The secretary was instructed to place an advertisement in the Lake County Mail on August 13 and on August 20. On a motion moved by W, Smith, seconded by 0. Wheatley, it was resolved that members be advertised of future meetings by a personal note. A vote of thanks to tlie chair concluded the meeting.
' After coffee, sandwiches, etc., had been served, a very pleasant social evening was held, informal items revealing a wealth of new talent.
