AUSTRALIAN ATHLETES
Proposed Queenstown Visit
December 27 is the date suggested for the visit to Queenstown of the Australian athletes, according to advice received from the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association by the Queenstown Amateur Athletic Club at a meeting held at the secretary s office last Thursday. A tentative itinerary for the proposed New Zealand tour by the Australian athletes was received from the centre.
The Centre outlined the conditions contingent on the meeting being held at Queenstown, and after considerable discussion it Avas agreed that/ Mr G. Forbes and the secretary, Mr C. M. Inglis, advise the Otago Centre that if the same guarantee was still acceptable the club was agreeable to run the meeting on the terms stated. The conditions proposed by the Centre were —that the Queenstown Club’s guarantee be £25; that all guarantee money be paid to the Centre prior to the Centre finally committing itself to the tour with the Australian A,A.A.; that all profits be paid to the Centre and pooled and that a percentage of profits, after expenses had been paid, should be allocated to clubs participating. The Centre also advised that it intended to arrange for a bus-load of prominent Dunedin athletes to travel with the Australians on this tour.

An order of javelins and discus that had been 'purchased om authority given at the last meeting of the club were on display and it was decided that these should be shown in a prominent position to encourage theinterest of younger members before the instructor of the Physical Welfare Department arrived. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect for Mr W. Powell, late patron of the club and past-president, whose death occurred recently.
