Presenting Mr Hore with an envelope containing a sum of money, Mr Nelson expressed the good wishes of the club and congratulated him on bis promotion. Dt Anderson referred to “ Bill’s ” great sportsmanship on the green, his pleasant smile, and the citizenship that he had shown during his term in Queenstown. He was connected with various organisations, ho said, and was a prominent member of the Presbyterian Church committee. Dr Anderson wished Mr and Mrs Hore and family all the best of luck. Other speakers who endorsed the remarks of the first two speakers inrluted Mr A. A. Tripp, Mr W. Smith, Mr B, A. Vercoe, Mr W. Mclnnes, Mr R. J„ Puller, Mr Jas. McDonald and Mr T. L. Hanrahan.

He also referred to the kind remarks that had been made in rerefence to his duties in the local post office and spoke of the great co-opera-tion that existed amongst the postal staff. It was only through the great help of Mrs Hore, he said, that it had been possible for him to take on his outside responsibilities. He wished the club well and trusted that many a good game would be played between the Arrowtpwn and Queenstown clubs. During the evening vocal solos were rendered by Messrs Jas. McDonald, W. Smith and W. McTnnes. Mr Hore gave a rendering of “ Mulsra Bill.”

During the evening supper was served.
