BOROUGH ESTIMATES

No Increase in Rates The estimates as submitted by the treasurer to the monthly meeting of the Queenstown Bordugh Council were adopted, the turn-over being estimated at £5930. The chief items of the receipts side anticipated total rates levied to realise £2358, and camping ground fees, including hut rent; £llOO. On the expenditure side salaries show at £BOO, hospital levy £3lB, interest and repayment on loans £951, sealing streets

and footpaths £OOO, and purchase new snorts area £750.

Cr Lindsay strongly recommended that the rates be increased to make provision for improvements and facilities for the Garrison Hal!. Cr Sew Hoy also inquired why provision had not been made for conveniences at the library, as this amount had Iwen placed on the estimates last year, and the work had not been commenced. Considerable discussion took place over these matters, and it was finally decided on the voice of the whole council not to increase the rates.
