HOUSING SHORTAGE
Several New Homes Being
Erected
It is pleasing to record that in these clays of housing shortage several new residences are in the course of construction in Queenstown. In others, substantial alterations have been made
to bring the houses into line with good living conditions. At least four houses are in varying degrees of erection and under priorities given for building, these should be completed towards the end of the year. State housing proposals are also now showing some definite decision and a suitable area for building has been secured. It is understood that six
houses will be under construction shortly.
MISS C J. BELL
Miss Bell, of Edinburgh, Scotland, who is arriving at Wellington on the Kith inst by the Rangitiki, left her homeland for New Zealand to marry Mr John McWhirter Boyd, eldest son of Mr'and Mrs W. McK. Boyd, of Frankton, Queenstown. Miss Bell and Mr Boyd met while the latter was serving overseas with the R.N.Z.A.F. in England. Miss Bell comes from the very well known Edinburgh family of Mr and Mrs J. G. Bell. Mr Bell was for many years associated with the London and North Eastern Railway Company, and was well known as “ auld J.G. ” of the L.N.E.R.
Miss Bell was educated at the Leith Academy and after graduating there served during the war years on the staff of the Scotsman and Evening Dispatch newspapers.
The wedding has been arranged to take place on Saturday, June 21.
The good wishes of the people of Queenstown will go to Miss Bell and Mr Boyd for their future happiness and prosperity in Queenstown.
