VALEDICTORY

KEY. PAGE AND FAMILY

At Arkles' Bay on Wednesday evening ot last week, Rev. F. C. Pace (Methodist minister) and His wife and family were the guests at a farewell gathering. The hall was crowded with friends and well wishers, testifying to the popularity of the departing minister. Mr Dearsley, one of Auckland's most prominent business men, who occupied the chair, explained the reason of the gathering. Personally he had know Mr Pace for several years, and had always had the highest respect for him, and on behalf of those present, wished Mr Pace and family good luck in their new sphere of activity.

A pleasing function was the presentation of a handsome bouquet to Mrs Pace. The little child who made the presentation was prettily dressed as a fairy.

Mr Pace feelingly responded, on behalf of himself and family, to the good wishes extended.

Musical items, recitations, games, etc., occupied a pleasant evening, at the conclusion of which "For he's a jolly good fellow " was sung with gusto.

On Sunday harvest festival services were held at Arkles' Bay, at which large congregations were present. In the evening Rev. Pace preached his farewell sermon. At the close of ths service Mr B. Watt, on behalf of residents and visitors, presented the minister with a substantial roll of notes as a small token or esteem.

Rev. Pace and family left for Norsewood, their new home, by this afternoon's express.
