KAUKAPAKAPA FARMERS' UNION

A meeting of tho Farmers' Union was held last Saturday to discuss the project of erecting a cheese factory foi this district. After a long debate, it was decided that the time was not ripe for the step, and the matter was left in abeyance.

The branch recently had a visit from Mr Patterson, of the Agricultural Division, who gave an interesting address on fodder plants, especially lucerne. The speaker announced that, providing suitable arrangements could be made, the Government would consider the establishing of experimental plots in the district.

At the last meeting of the branch several plots were put under offer. This is a work that needs every encouragement, and it is hoped that the scheme will bear fruit.
