DOMAIN BOARD.

USUAL MEETING

The .monthly meeting of the above was held after the Town Board meeting on Thursday last. PRESENT „ Comrs. Jas. Stewart (in the chair), H. Thompson, C. West Jas. McLeod, T. D. Johnson, and the Secretary. MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Outward correspondence was dealt with and approved. SAVAGE CLUB CONCERT The Chairman reported that since the last meeting, the Savage Club Choir had visited Helensville, and given a very successful concert in aid of the Domain, the funds having benefited to the extent of some £44. A letter of thanks had been received from the Savage Club, expressing appreciation of the hospitality extended the members of the Choir during their visit to the town and springs. " It was decided to forward a letter of-thanks to the Savage Club for their splendid efforts in raising such a substantial amount, DOMAIN CONTROL. Cr. McLeod was of the opinion that the time had arrived when the Government should take over the control of the Springs. Hitherto the Tourist Department had not treated the Board fairly in regard to the Springs, in the matter of grants for improvements, etc.

Other members were of the same opinion that the Board were not getting a fair deal from the Tourist Department.

It was decided (Chairman — Thompson) that Major Coates be wired to, requesting him to use his best efforts to get amount applied for for the Springs placed on the Estimates.

Cr. McLeod gave notice of motion, to come before next meeting, that the Government be requested to take over the control of the Springs.

CARE OF GROUNDS. The caretaker, Mr Cormack, attended the meeting, and gave an account of work clone and in progress at the Domain. He also made a complaint in regard to stray horses spoiling one of the bowling greens.

In answer to a query whether a letter appearing in the ECHO in regard to damage done to a particular green was correct, the caretaker said it was quite true.

Accounts were dealt with, and the meeting terminated.
