FISHERMEN'S RIGHTS.

AT ELECTION POLL.

THE following telegram has been received from the Acting Prime Minister by Mr A. E. Glover, M.P. :—

In reply to your telegram of March 21, the Crown Solicitor advises that fishermen are entitled to and exercise electors' rights if they come Within the term seamen as defined in Section 12 of Legislative Act 1908, that is if they are engaged in any capacity on board any ship not propelled by oars, and registered and owned in New Zealand. The term ship will include any fishing vessel not usually propelled by oars. Presumably, therefore, the men employed on board fishing fleets are entitled to obtain and vote on electors' rights.
