STANDARDISED BOOTS.
During a meeting held last week between representatives of the NewZealand Boot Manufacturers' Association and the Board of Trade, it was stated that several boot retailers had adopted the practice of placing placards in their windows indicating that " standardised boots " were on sale at their particular shops. The object sought was no doubt to persuade the public that they were Government standard boots. The facts are, however, that the boots which are now being offered to the public are not those which are to be issued under the auspices of the New Zealand Government Board ot Trade. These boots are now in process of manufacture, and it is expected will be available to the pubtic shortly. They will all be stamped with a registered brand on the sole, together with the retail price, and will be guaranteed as to quality. Purchasers of Govarnment standard footwear should have no difficulty in recognising the goods once they are placed in the hands of distributors.
