INDUCTION SERVICE.

AM induction service was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Helensville, on^October 10th. The Moderator of the Charge, Rev. W. J. Fhaw, M.A., presided. The Rev. G. B. Inglis from Mt, Albert was also present and took the opening part of the service, after which the Moderator proceeded with the induction of the Rev. Wm. Butter worth as Minister of this Charge. The Elders then made themselves acquainted with Mr Butterworth and offered him their congratulations. The Rev. Inglis then addressed the congregation.

The meeting which followed was of a social nature. Addresses of welcome were given from the session and Sunday School by Mr C. P. Thomson; the managers, Mr L. L. Bailey; Woodhill Church, Mr R. Hoe; Parakai, Mr H. Aitkenhead ; Kaukapakapa and Wainui, Mr C. Jones ; the Ladies' Guild, Mrs C. E. Oxlev ; Wesleyan Church, Rev. Broom ; Church of Christ, Mr A. J. Skelton. The Rev. A. V. Venables sent an apology, being away from home.

Songs were rendered by Miss C. Aitkenhead, Mrs Carlaw, and Miss Harper, and a recitation by Mr Harper.

The Moderator announced that his office had now terminated, and thanked the congregation for the loyal support they had given him while he held that office, and trusted that the same support would be given to Mr Butterworth

At this stage of the meeting Mrs Oxley, on behalf of the various organisations, made a small presentation to Mr Shaw on his retirement, and in a few well-chosen words expressed the feelings of the donors for the high esteem in which Mr Shaw was held in this Charge, Mr Shaw suitably replied.

Mr Butte worth then replied, and said that he hoped his stay in Helensville would be a long and happy one. He appreciated very deeply the hearty reception that had been offered to himself and Mrs Butterworth, and trusted, that the work that laid before them would have God's guidance and direction and the peoples' appreciation and acceptance. After singing the doxology the meeting closed with the benediction.
