THE MINSTRELS.

A vfiRY excellent programme was presented by the Minstrel Troupe on Friday last to an appreciative audience. To lovers of old time Minstrely the plantation songs were a musical treat harmonies in the choruses being a pleasing feature. The corner men were quite at home, and their local hitß were crisp and clean. Two uproarious farces were enjoyed by all present. The fancy dancing by two little ladies from the Queen City was heartily encored.

The second part had unfortunately to be curtailed owing to the " flue." The remaining performers did their best under the trying circumstances of heavy rain marring the acoustic qualities of the Lyric Theatre.

Supper was afterwards provided by the ladies. A dance followed and was well attended.

By request the Minstrel Troupe are re-appearing on Monday evening next, 28th October. New gags, etc.

Coming—Basil King's great story— " The-Lifted Veil."

A sale of work in aid of the Presbyterian Church and Manse will be held on Friday, December 6.

Alfred Buckland and Sons Ltd., having received instructions from Messrs Smith and Savage, Wharepapa, who are dissolving partnership, will sell the whole of their stock to-day (Thursday).
