RED GROSS EFFORT.
HELENSVILLE QUEEN
CARNIVAL.
Things are still going strong in this effort.
The Fancy Dress Social held on Thursday last was very successul. Many of the dresses were much admired, amongst others we noticed Pierettes, Nurses, Belgians, Patches, and a Cowboy. The 101 st Reinforcement by Messrs Tom Hafford and Bob Johnson attracted a good deal of attention. Miss Eileen Stanaway, as a. lady of the early Victorian period, looked sweetly coy and sustained the character perfectly.
The Euchre Party on Monday was another successful function, and included a copper trail waltz. Another attraction was a copper trail competition between North and South, resulting in over £2 being netted in, in less than half-an-hour.
On Saturday the stalls and other side-shows were the means of adding considerably to the Funds.
We understand the suggested dates for the following are: — Breach of Promise Case, October 4th ; Christy Minstrels, October 11th ; Coronation, October 19th. * ■ * * A Hard-up Social will be held next week. '
