THURSDAY, JUNE 13th, 1918. PRESENT Comrs. J. F. Lambert (chairman), H.Thompson, H. Aitkenhead, F. W. Strange. Jas. Stewart, and the clerk (Mr W. F. Raisher). ! . MINUTES Minutes of previous meeting v were read and confirmed. ■*~ CORRESPONDENCE Jwf Outward correspondence was confirmed. BRIDGE PLANS A claim was received from , Mr Simcock for preparing plans and specification for Awaroa Bridge. Proposed by Cr. Strange and seconded by Cr. Stewart —That the claim be not recognised. CLOSING ROAD Proposed by Cr. Strange and seconded by Cr. Thompson — That the far end of Awaroa road be stopped for traffic, and that a notice to that effect be put up ma conspicuous, place.— Carried. COMPLETION OF AWAROA ROAD Proposed by Cr. Aitkenhead, seconded by Cr. Stewart—That sufficient metal be ordered to complete Awaroa Road.— Carried. CATTLE TRAFFIC A letter was received from Mr Stewart, re cattle traffic. On the motion of Cr Thompson,, seconded by Cr. Aitkenhead, it was resolved—That the Board's solicitor be asked to give a written opinion as to the Board's position in regard to the driving of cattle on > Town District roads. $ IMPROVEMENTS TO FOOTPATHS. Correspondence was received from Mr Jas. Stewart and the A. and P. Society, re the bad state of footpaths. Proposed by Cr. Thompson, seconded by Cr! Aitkenhead—That 40yds of chips be ordered for the work. Carried. OVERDRAFT . Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr. Aitkenhead— That the document re overdraft of £700 for ensuing year be signed by the Chairman and Clerk. —Carried. LICENSE GRANTED An application from Mr Jas. Stewart for renewal of slaughterhouse license was granted. INSPECTOR APPOINTED In pursuance of notice of motion, Cr. Stewart moved as • follows—That Constable Hunt be instructed to act as Inspector to the Town Board, and that instructions to that effect, together with a copy of the by-laws be forwarded to him.—Carried. WATER CHARGES Proposed by Cr Stewart and seconded by Cr.'Aitkenhead— Inat the Railway Department be charged the difference of cost of M-inch and 2-inch pipe used, and for special fittings used by the Board, and connection with water supply to railway station —Carried. TELEPHONE TO BE INSTALLED On the motion of Cr. Stewart, seconded by Cr. Strange, it was resolved—That a telephone be installed in the Town Board omce. BY-LAWS Proposed by the Chairman and seconded by Cr. Stewart—That extracts from the be-laws showing licenses and water and drainage charges payable to the Board be tabulated and hung in the Board room.—Cairied. ACCOUNTS Accounts amounting to £50 5s 10d were passed for payment.
