HELENSVILLE GOLF CLUB
A COMMITTEE meeting of the above Club was held on Tuesday evening last, Mr Stringer occupying the chair.
The Secretary submitted a statement showing a credit balance of £7.
It was decided to fix Saturday next, 20th inst., for the official closing day, when mixed foursomes will be played, partners to be selected in order of arrival. Play to commence at 2 p m.. and it is hoped that all members will be in attendance.
The competition for the President's trophies, for which the ladies were to return three cards each of nine holes, and the gents three cards of 18 holes, the best aggregate cards to be the winners, resulted in Mrs Eames winning the ladies' prize, and Mr Wallace the gentlemen's. This competition was originally arranged to close on 28th July, but had to be extended from time to time owing to the unfavourable weather conditions throughout the season, and consequently the number of cards returned was less than would have been under normal conditions. Nevertheless, those players who did return cards displayed keen interest in the competitions. The following were the best cards returned : —Ladies — Mrs Eames 201 52 149 Mrs Elliott 182 30 152 Mrs Stringer 216 60 156 Miss Rimmer 190 25 165 Mrs Sandin 241 60 181 —Gentlemen— N.
