DEFENCE NOTES.

An inspection parade of the Helensville Platoon of the Kaipara Defence Rifle Club was held on Saturday last. After the inspection a meeting was held, when Major Turley (Officer Commanding the Area) was in the chair. Eules, as laid down in the Defence Regulations, were adopted. The following promotions were made :—Sergt. Constable to Vice-President; Sergt. Loughman to Vice-President; and Q.M.S. Fosbroke to Quartermaster.

The Helensville Squadron of the 3rd Auckland Mounted Rifles paraded on Saturday under Lieut. Cutfield. There was only a small muster, the majority of the members being absent on active service.
