j MAKARAU 1 [OWN CORRESP6NDENTI I; MEMORIAL SERVICE. I A memorial service was held ■h the Hall last Sunday, in ■ftemory of the late Private Thos. ■lanuell, who died at Trentham ■ni the 9th inst. The Rev. J. A. ■Lamond conducted the service, fcul gave a very interesting and ■mpressive address on the Resurrection (Ist Cor., 15 chap.) The ■famber of people present (be■keen sixty and seventy) said Much for the respect and esteem ■n-whicii the deceased was held, ■fr Hooper, senr., kindly lent his ■pgan for the occasion; a kindBess which w.as much appreciated. Appropriate hymns were ■png. Flags were hung on the ■rail above the stage, and the Mpage itself was tastefully ■ecorated by former school-mates ■f the dead soldier. The service ■frnchided with the singing of the ■National Anthem by the con■pegation.
