FAREWELL SOCIAL.
H&. MOST enjoyable evening was spent in ft^ §taj Theatre on Tuesday evening last B^e occasion being a send-off- to Private Hptan ley V? hite, of the wireless depart H^ent qf the Reinforceinents. Although Ht he committee had only a couple of days ■notice to arrange matters, the affair was Ha success in every way. The evening ■was spent in dancing, with a couple of ■recitations in between. Miss M. Cullens ■supplied the' music, and Mr R. Redfern ■made a capable M.C. The Helensville ■Band was in attendance, and gave a ■selection of items. In a neat little fcneech^ ]Vf ajor Turley presented the guest ■of the evening wi^lj. a ra^or, cigarette Hplder., and a pair qf sqcks, on behalf of ■ttie IJelensville people, and wished him H' God»speed " on his journey to l| some* Bvhere." Private White was doing his ■ittle bit to help keep the old flag flying, Htnd it was good news to see by the latest Babies that the Allies were gradually Baining ground. The speaker concluded By wishing Private White a safe return ■rhich no doubt would happen if he kept Mpis head low enough in the firing line. HiThe recipient suitably responded.
