FAREWELL TO CAPTAIN J. G. COATES, M.P.

A HASTILY convened meeting was held in the Library on October 4th to discuss arrangements for giving a farewell to the Member for the district, who is proceeding to the front. Mr J. F. Lambert in the chair. It was proposed by Mr McLeod and seconded by Mr Aitkenhead—That a social be held under the auspices of the Women's Patriotic League of Helensyille and Parakai, to bid farewell to the Member for Kaipara, Captain J. G. Goates. The ladies to be asked to provide refreshment. Night to suit Mr Coates. Tickets, gentlemen 2/, ladies 1/. —Carried. It was proposed by Mr McLeod and seconded by McEwin— That all present form themselves into a committee, with power to add.— Carried. Mr Robson to be in charge of the musical portion of the programme.
