HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1916. SPECIAL MEETING. THE first meeting of the newlyappointed members was held on the above date, when there were present: Corns. A. Becroft, E. T. Field, Jas. Stewart, J. Lambert, H. L. Thompson, H. Aitkenhead, H. Granary, and the clerk (Mr H. W. Stringer), who occupied the chair. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. The appointment of a chairman opened • the pioceedings, Comr. Field proposing—That Comr. Lambert be elected chairman for the ensuing two years. This was seconded by Comr. Stewart. Comr. Becroft proposed as an amendment —That Comr. Field be appointed as chairman, and remarked in glowing terms of the valuable work Comr. Field had done as chairman. Comr. Field declined to be nominated, and Comr. Lambert was duly elected. Com. Lambert thanked' the. members for the honour conferred upon him and said he might add that it was not a position he looked for ; but he hoped to do his utmost to carry on matters as smoothly as possible. He also expected the other members to help him along with the business that might come before him. The speaker then took the chair. APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEES. The following committees we.re then appointed : — Finance and Legal—Corns. Field and Becroft. ! Roads and Footpaths.—Corns. Aitkenheed, Stewart, and Becrdft, Water and Drainage.—Corns. Stewart, Field, Thompson, and Graham. Special Committee for Domain Board—Corns. Becroft, Stewart, Aitkenhead and Graham. Cemetery Committee. — The Roads Committee were appointed for this purpose, FUTURE MEETINGS. Proposed by Com. Stewart — That the meetings of the Board b ; e held on the second Thursday in each month, at 8 p.m. This was seconded by Com. Field and carried.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 12th inst. This was all the business.
