FAREWELL TO GUARD NOEDL,
A large gathering of railwaymen and residents of the surrounding district assembled in the Public Hall, Wellsford, on the evening of August 28th,,. for the purpose of- bidding farewell to Guard C. Noedl, who has been promoted to shunter at Frankton Junction. During the evening Mr Pardington, on behalf of the public, presented Mr and Mrs Noedi with a silver tea service, and a silver serviette nng for their bonny boy. Mr Bernard, on behalf of the rail way 2ien.. between Kanohi and Ranginui, presented Mr Noedl with a Gladstone bag and a travelling rug, also a silver kettle and stand for Mrs Noedl, as a slight recognition of the many kindnesses received at their
hands
In responding, Mr Noedl thanked all for their splendid gifts and kindness, which both he and Mrs Noedl greatly appreciated. Songs were sung by Miss Ramsbottom, Messrs C. Bernard, and W. liedfern, and L. Campbell gave a few selections on the>i bagpipes. Dancing was kept up till early morning. Mr Redfern made a very efficient M.C., whilst the music was in the capable hands of Jtliss Ballance.
