KAIPARA FLATS

ANOTHER FAREWELL SOCIAL,
A farewell social to Mr and Mrs J. Yipond, who are leaving the distr;ct, was held in the Hall, on Tuesday, August 29tli. Though the night was anything but a pleasant one for travelling there was a fairly large gathering, many coming from several mibs away, und a very enjoyable evening was spent, costly in dancing. The musio was supplied by several willing hands, and Mr J. Thomson performed tlio duties of M.O. During the evening, Mr Alf. Gubb, on behalf of the residents of the district, presented Mr and Mrs Vipond with a nice silver-mounted °ak biscuit barrel, and a purse of sovereigns, and at the same time mentioned that they had always taken an active part in the affairs of the district, and that we were sorry to lose them, Mr Vipond suitably responded. At about i 1 o'clock, an excellent supper was handed round, after which dancing was resumed till about 2 a.m.
