BOWLING.

AWAROA BOWLING CLUB

THE third annual meeting of the Awaroa Bowling Club was held on Monday evening last, Mr A. J. Hill presiding over an attendance of about 20 members. .

The report and balance sheet were adopted.

The election of officers resulted as1 follows: —Patron, Mr Daniel Stewart; president, Mr A. J. Hill; vice-president, Mr H. Graham; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr R. J. Walters; green superintend" ant, Mr A.- Nuttall; committee, Messrs Stringer, Ellet, Cullens, Smith. Hammond, Murray, Field, Garry, Constable, Bishop, Coutts, and Dwerryhouse; hon. auditor, Mr H. W. Stringer; delegate to Dominion Bowling Association (Auckland), Mr A. J. Hill.

The trophies won during the season were presented by the President, as follows: Championship, Mr A. Hammond ; Handicap Singles, Mr R. Cuthbert. The " Roosters " trophies are to be presented later on.

During the evening a lengthy discussion, in which many members joined, was held on the question of raising present subscription. It" was agreed that owing to the war, etc., the subscription should be increased to 214, guineas. Notice of motion to make the necessary alteration to the Rule was accordingly moved.

An enthusiastic meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the President and out-going officers and committe, the ladies who dispensed afternoon tea, the donors of the trophies, and to the auditor, Mr Stringer. Special votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring > secretary, Mr Murphy, and the retiring green superintendent, Mr Harris.
