BOTTLES

SUBSCRIPTIONS RECEIVED AT

ECHO OFFICE,

A PUBLIC meeting was held in the supper room of the Star Theatre, Helensville., on Mondayevening last at 8 p.m., for the purpose of deciding the question whether Helensville should assist the North Auckland effort to raise funds for the purchase of an aeroplane for the Allies. The attendance was very small, consisting of Messrs Jas. McLeod, A. J. Hill, T. McEwin, H. White junr., J. G. Walters, C. Sandin, and E. Thurlow Field. On the motion of Mr Sandin, Mr Field was appointed Chairman, and on the motion of Mr Hill, Mr Sandin was elected Secretary.

It was decided on the motion of Mr Hill, seconded by Mr Walters —That the meeting assist the movement to obtain a Nprth .Auckland aeroplane.

It was proposed by Mr Sandin, seconded by Mr Walters—That the offers of the Picture proprietors to give a night each to the Fund be accepted with thanks This was unanimously carried, as was also a motion by Messrs White and Walters—That the charge be Is adults, 6d children. The matter of getting the tickets printed was left in the hands of the Secretary,

On the motion of Messrs White and Hill, it was decided that the night of Monday, V lsth inst., be chosen for the Pictures in Mr Becruft's Hall, and Thursday, 25th inst., in Mr Stewart's Hall.

On the motion of Mr McLeod, seconded by Mr Hill, it- was decided to have a Bottle Collection in aid of the Funds, and that Messrs Stringer, Garry, and Hill be appointed receivers, and that the Agricultural Association be asked for their Hall as a depot.

It was decided to advertise the bottle collection, and ask for assistance from the outlying districts.

Messrs Field, McLeod, Sandin, Hill and McEwin were appointed a Committee to organise the Bottle Collection, and attend to any matters that might arise in connection with the movement. On the motion of Mr Hill, seconded by Mr McLeod, it was decided that a subscription list be opened, and that the ECHO Office be asked to receive subscriptions, A subscription list was headed by Messrs Sandin, Hill and McLeod with one guinea each.

A vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting.
