THE HON. DR. MCNAB IN HELENSVILLE.

DEPUTATIONS AND PROMISES

THE Hon. Dr. McNab (Minister for Marine and Internal Affairs) passed through Helensville on Friday last, on his way from Dargaville and the Otamatea to Auckland. He arrived at the wharf at about 1.45 p.m., by the s.s. Tuirangi, and was met by Mr E. T. Field (Chairman) and Mr Becroft, members of the Helensville Town Board, and Mr J. McLeod, member of the Waitemata County Council, and Mr White, manager of the Kaipara S.S. Co. at Helensville.

Mr White interviewed him re sunken logs in the N. Wairoa, which were endangering navigation. The Minister promised to look into the matter.

He was then taken out to the Hot Springs, where the matter of taking over Hinemoa House as part of the Domain was urged upon him; and the great need for a ladies' swimming bath was pointed out. After examining the grounds, he made somewhat exhaustive enquiries as to revenue ande xpenditure, and then promised to consider the matters laid before him.

On his return to Helensville, his attention was called to the obstruction placed in the river by the Kailway Department, as a tide deflector, Mr Jas. McLeod being spokesman. Dr. McNab promised that lon his return he would enquire into the matter.
